A fine affair : LETTERS

I AM NOT condoning Eric Cantona's aggressive behaviour ("A martyr to his own myth", Sport, 29 January), but I am appalled by the hypocrisy of his "victim" - Matthew Simmons. He has said that he will forget the incident if "Eric apologises to me". Reports vary about his own actions before the attack: racial remarks, spitting, swearing - all in the face of the footballer. I would like the courts to fine Mr Simmons, say £20,000 - the remuneration he is receiving from the Sun for his story.
