I'M NOT sure if this is an 'erudite reference' or an 'in-joke' ("Still crazy after all these years", Review, 30 July), but the Marcus et Spencius store in Carry on Cleo was located in the town of Coccium, which was the Roman name for Wigan. I saw the film with a friend while in temporary exile in Golders Green in 1962. Needless to say we were the only people in the place laughing.
