Great Ormond Street Hospital patient Taylor Banks today added his name to a list of celebrities who have given reasons why readers should support our hospital appeal for seriously ill children.

The seven-year-old boy, who has diabetes but also a rare allergy to insulin, used a touching festive message to cap off The Independent's star-studded 12 Days of Christmas series.

With his parents Gema and Scott, he urged generous readers to help GOSH provide nearby accommodation for the families of children undergoing treatment at the hospital.

“On the twelfth day of Christmas your donations could give twelve months of sleeping,” Taylor said, with his mother adding: “Families come from all over the country so their little girl on boy can be treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital.”

His father said: “Your donation to the Give to Gosh appeal could help families like ours get a good night’s sleep in the hospital’s patients and family accommodation.”

Sir Ian McKellen, Derek Jacobi, John Bishop and Gillian Anderson have been among those to throw their weight behind The Independent's Give to GOSH appeal.

One of the key goals of the campaign is to raise enough to help fund the patient and family support programme at the hospital, which aims to make life more “normal” for families while their children are receiving treatment.
