Circus act

There was something deeply disturbing about the scenes as Jonathan King was released from prison. Here was a man, convicted of sexually abusing teenage boys, giving away CDs at the prison gates. It may be legitimate for him to claim that his sentence was too long - but his argument that he has committed no crime is ludicrous. So were his comparisons with Oscar Wilde. It was demeaning. It says something about our society when even the prison gates can be transformed into a circus of publicity and shallow self-justification.
