From Mrs Zarine Choudry

Sir: Angela Lambert is way off the mark if she (and other writers of her ilk) thinks that Muslim women are typified by "veiling from head to toe" and "taking second place to their husbands".

There are thousands of career-orientated Muslim women throughout the world, even in Pakistan, where women are at last making headway in the fields of finance, politics, medicine, teaching and the social work spheres.

Islamically speaking, Muslim women (particularly when their children have grown up) are encouraged to use their skills for the enhancement of society as a whole.

Yours sincerely,

ZARINA CHOUDRY
