Brazilian man forced to pay £15,000 to ex-wife after announcing she wasn't a virgin during wedding

A Brazilian man has been told to pay £15,000 in damages to his ex-wife and mother-in-law. Reason? He announced in the middle of their wedding ceremony that his bride-to-be was "no longer a virgin".

Although it's generally accepted that wearing white no longer represents the purest form of virginity, Vanessa Tonasse was less than happy when her groom spoiled their ceremony by declaring her cherry had already been popped.

Jose Proenca Alves had reportedly fallen out with his fiancee's parents because they had told them not to have sex until after they were married.

After the couple had been pronounced man and wife at the wedding in Rio de Janeiro, Mr Alves declared to their 400 guests that his newly-wedded wife was not in fact a virgin.

He then said that the reason she'd lied to her parents was so "she wouldn't lose out on the big wedding reception her dad had promised her."

After his unexpected outburst Mr Alves left the church on his own and the wedding party was cancelled, with the marriage later being annulled.

Probably not the happiest day of their lives, then? At least he could make £250 back by sending the vid into You've Been Framed.
