Ladies, gentlemen and pixelated dragons, your favourite Italian plumber is back - and you need never be without him again.

In a move that will suck hundreds of productive man hours from fellow students, a New York Computer Science major has transferred the 1985 Nintendo game Super Mario Bros to HTML format, giving gamers the chance to jump on the heads of mushrooms without the need for a cute-but-clunky Nintendo console.

You can try the game, which was crowned the best of all time by IGN in 2005, in all its glory at FullScreenMario.com. Budding games designers can even create their own levels.
