WHILE I was interested to read your piece about the numerous non-speaking characters in The Archers (Notebook, 3 January), the more serious issue is surely those who speak far too much. Top of the stakes must be Mike Tucker, Linda Snell, and the dreadful vicar-vet Robin Stokes. The Archers would be improved beyond all measure if the Grundys were given far more lines and the aforementioned characters far fewer.
