POETRY is not a matter of metricalised doctrine? On that basis, Billy Bragg could lay claim to Shelley's crown in no time. I'd rather read a reactionary who can weave together ideas, rhythms and feeling into a coherent whole, than a politically correct pre-Victorian spouting 'Lo]' and 'Alas]' every other line.
