There never was a vessel named Marie Celeste ("Hot tips for new weekenders", Real Life, 23 June). I think you may be referring to the Mary Celeste which sailed from New York to Genoa on 7 November 1872 and was found deserted on 5 December about 300 miles from Gibraltar.
