Letter: A better way to tackle child abuse

Sir: I understand the Archbishop of Canterbury condones a loving slap to discipline children ("Carey happy to give a gentle smack", 26 October).

I was wondering, now that my oldest daughter is nearly four years old and gaining strength, how long I have to wait before I can start slapping my new-born? Should I wait until she is out of her infancy, or should I get started while she is still in the crib?
