Letter: A handbagging for republicanism

Sir: Do people such as Brian James (letter, 6 August) hope to expunge the memory of our royalty from the national consciousness? I was delighted to see the birthday photograph of our much loved and respected Queen Mother, to whose long-standing example this country owes so much, on your front page.
