Sir: Not wishing to pass comment on Dame Barbara Cartland's 570 books, the fact that she is able to write such a subjective and insubstantial letter, in her typical, indomitable style, does nothing to strengthen the case that vitamin supplements can improve the intelligence of children. Indeed, her letter is, arguably, the most convincing evidence yet produced against the indiscriminate swallowing of vitamin pills.
