Letter: Age of consent debate rages on
Sir: I accept that MPs who opposed a reduction of the age of homosexual consent to 16 were not motivated by sheer prejudice but did so on the grounds that boys of this age are sexually immature and easily led. I presume the same MPs are now campaigning to raise the heterosexual age of consent so that these confused adolescents are not encouraged to commit themselves to permanent partnerships or the responsibilities of parenthood at this vulnerable age.
