Sovereignty of the Greek islands of the Aegean (visited by one million Britons every year) has never been disputed by Turkey ('Islands of conflict', 26 July). If there is any claim from the Turkish side, it concerns the sea boundaries and waterways.
What, paradoxically, you omit is the Turkish invasion, exactly 18 years ago, and occupation of 40 per cent of Cyprus. Peace negotiations are even now being held in New York.
