Sir: I am an NHS GP and would not be here if it were not for free university education. Removing taxpayers' support for students removes from the degree-holder any obligation to his fellows and further destroys this selfish society. Every day I remember that taxpayers paid for my education and it helps me accept the low pay and poor working conditions we all put up with in the NHS.
