Sir: The sport of Freud-bashing has suffered a setback with John Forrester's forum ('Freud: Woody Allen and me', 10 October) which gives the man the opportunity to speak. He reminds us, lost in the postmodern, unsignposted jungle of therapies, of Freud's belief, central to the therapeutic encounter, 'that psychoanalysis is in essence cure through love'. An invitation to return to basics?
