Letter: Bad timing at the Proms
From Mr Peter Kettle
Sir: Now that Sir John Drummond has expressed his irritation at the antics of the Last Night Promenaders (Giles Smith interview, 24 July) perhaps he could address the increasing problem of applause between movements.
At last night's Prom, the (seated) audience went wild after the third movement of Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony; the arena stayed silent and the orchestra nodded with us sympathetically.
Yours sincerely,
Peter Kettle
