Letter: BBC radio reception

Sir: I was disappointed to read A. M. Robertson's letter (9 September) suggesting that Radio 3 and Radio 4 reception is of a poorer quality than Classic FM. Where it is available, Classic FM is broadcast from the same transmitters, and at the same power, as BBC Radio 1, 2, 3 and 4 and reception quality of all these services should therefore be similar.

Good reception is, however, dependent on many factors, and if Mr Robertson would like to call the BBC's Radio Helpline (0345 010313; local call rate) during office hours, one of our engineers would be pleased to offer detailed advice on receiving BBC radio to the highest possible standard.

Yours sincerely,

MICK GLEAVE
