Sir: The Registrar of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain claims (letter, 31 May) that 'members of each profession should, ideally, undertake the tasks for which they are specifically trained'. Perhaps he can explain why our local pharmacist will happily perform cholesterol and pregnancy tests without training, when there is a fully equipped laboratory in our town hospital, staffed by fully trained (and state registered) laboratory scientists.
Yours faithfully,
PAUL TIGHE
