Sir: Mark Lawson's suggestion (5 October) that 'Bambi' Blair's Blackpool oratory recast him as the Lion King may be even more apposite than it first appears. Bambi is an all-time classic from the golden age of Disney animation; The Lion King, by more than one account, is an empty confection launched with unprecedented media hype: a box-office triumph but by no means a substantial addition to the canon.
