IN AN article appearing in your newspaper ('Lewis plays the ghostbuster', 26 September) Jonathan Rendall states:
'During Bruno's rise the publicity machine behind him was frightening and, through no fault of his own, his star billing seemed to cast a giant shadow over the smaller cogs. Frank Maloney was one such small cog then; a club-show matchmaker from South-east London who at one time worked for Duff but was sacked after getting one of the house fighters knocked out.'
I take great exception to this statement. It is untrue that Frank Maloney worked for me although he was for a short time involved with my former associate, Mike Barrett, when I was working in the United States. As he did not work for me I obviously did not 'sack' him if he was indeed sacked by anybody.
