I CAN relate to the awfulness of watching a place you love being spoilt, but Blake Morrison's sense (9 August) of what is tasteful (friendly peasants, an unchanged landscape) is unapologetically bourgeois, and the logical conclusion - to restrict access - exclusive. We have to share precious places with people who have different ideas from our own. The challenge is to find a way to compromise without destroying the essence. Our national parks could provide a blueprint.
