BEFORE I turned to page 3 of last Sunday's Real Life section I read the lead-in "tease " on the cover, "The Gay Man Gay Men Hate". I thought "yet another piece on a gay man for non-gay readers!"

Really, this business of the gay man gay men hate just won't do at all! Imagine the reaction if you flagged an article with "The Black Man Black Men Hate". Or the outcry if you'd written "The Jew Man Jew Men Hate".
