Sir: Will Gillian Shephard spot the deliberate mistake of her advisers when she reviews the revised 'all-British' list of 12 authors for use in schools from next autumn ('Schools' modern book list cut to 12 authors', 8 October)? Whereas I imagine both James Joyce and W. B. Yeats might have been flattered to be included in the list, I doubt very much whether they would have welcomed being classified under 'the literary heritage of Britain'.
Yours sincerely,
