I WISH to take great exception to the article about my city, Birmingham, by Mary Braid. Had Mary Braid visited us at any time she would have seen the same 'prettyfying'. The flower displays are always a glory. We are proud of our Parks Department.

Does she really imagine this could be accomplished in a few days? It is a measure of the courage of the city council to accept the challenge of hosting the European summit.
