Letter: BSE crisis: blame the supermarket chains, not the farmers
Sir: Andrew Marr (26 March) says that "the Tories seem more concerned to save the meat industry than voters' lives". He appears to think that many of us involved in meat production believe that our industry can be saved without addressing the fears of the consumer. The contrary is true. The very salvation of the meat industry depends upon addressing those fears and doing everything necessary to restore consumer confidence. No customer, no industry.
