Letter: Builders of Babri

Sir: The Mogul prince Babar came to India with barely a few hundred people. I cannot imagine that only the descendants of this small group of 'conquerors' would have built the Babri Masjid alone. The mosque, therefore, must have been built by the native converts to Islam and, I am sure, by the Hindu artisans whose high-class craftsmanship is so visible in all the Mogul buildings in India.

Tearing apart a historic building, made by themselves, is a strange Hindu way of taking 'revenge' for the Mogul (and Muslim) rule over India.

Yours faithfully,

UZAIR RIZKI
