Sir: Some of my best friends are Roman Catholics, but I find it a bit rich to be told that 'subsidiarity is an operational Catholic principle' (Letters, 7 July). Some other Christian bodies have been acting on that principle for more than 400 years, ever since a thing called the Reformation.
