Letter: Coining a phrase

Sir: Among my loose change, I find today pounds 1 coins variously inscribed round the edges: 'Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad'; 'Decus et tutamen'; 'Nemo me impune lacessit'.

Can your readers enlighten me as to the reason for, and meaning of, these words? Sadly, my Welsh ancestry and 25-year-old O-level Latin haven't equipped me to make the translations.

Yours faithfully,

ALAN DAVIES
