AS ONE of the ill-informed dupes who will be strolling the streets of London this Sunday I was of course somewhat disappointed to hear that I was a mere pawn of a right-wing conspiracy (leading article, 27 February). Not only is it headed by "toffs", but it is even being bankrolled by sinister dark forces and then, Heaven forbid, we are not even a single-issue "pressure group", but have wide-ranging concerns about rural policies, several of which you list. I certainly would not expect you to agree with them all, but the fact that they do matter to such a wide range of people may have been worth a little more open debate in The Independent.
