PRESUMABLY a writer who has himself moved to Provence, Michael Bywater deplores the discovery of solitude and beauty by people who are not like him ('Provence non plus, Mr Mayle', 28 June).
Not content with restricting his transparent envy of Peter Mayle's success to a simple catalogue of snide epigrams (plus heavy-handed side-swipes at Brits and Provencals alike) his bitter and frenzied article included a map and directions to Mr Mayle's home. A mean and unnecessary piece of journalism and unworthy of your usually excellent paper.
