PARENTS of lesbian and gay children are not 'deprived of the 'right' to be grandparents' ('Just three little words', Review, 1 August).

First, nobody has a 'right' to children or grandchildren. Second, lesbians and gay men who want children are constantly refused access to artificial insemination, adoption and fostering on the same terms as heterosexuals.

Third, some gay men and about 30 per cent of British lesbians do have children: my beloved has provided her parents with three grandchildren as well as two great- grandchildren.
