Dunlop daps

Sir: "Daps" (letters, 18-22 March) is the usual word here in Somerset for plimsolls; and according to a news item on Radio Bristol a few years ago, it is an acronym for "Dunlop Athletic Plimsolls," made in Bristol until the factory was closed.
