Letter: Expanding garden
Sir: After reading Anna Pavord's well-balanced assessment of the Chelsea Flower Show (27 May), I wonder if the Royal Horticultural Society should change its name. Even in these days of the near demise of the teaching of Latin, most people know that 'horticulture' means cultivation of gardens. If the RHS wishes to enlarge its remit to include sand dunes, marshes and meadows when making awards, the present title is no longer appropriate.
Yours faithfully,
