Sir: Mathew Horsman ("Who'll pay twice for Auntie?", 14 May) writes, "it will be difficult in the eyes of some for the Beeb to market commercial services to licence payers. Haven't we already paid once?"

This is the elementary mistake of assuming that Sky and ITV are "free". Where do they get their money from? From the customers of advertisers as a percentage of purchases, who will be paying not twice but three times for pay-television.
