Sir: John Walsh reports in his diary today (5 October) how he was humiliated by Umberto Eco for not knowing who Robert Flood was.

He needn't worry. Since the Rosicrucian R.F. (1574-1637) wrote under the names Flud, Fludd, de Fluctibus, Rudolf Otreb, Joachim Frizius and (possibly) Alitophilus, it appears that he didn't know himself who he was.
