Sir: On what authority do you deem the inclusion of Sacred Hindu Texts and the Quran within the Dent classics list as a "politically correct inanity" (leading article, 8 January)? Some of the greatest stories ever told were told in non- Western, non-Christian cultures.
You are sceptical about the inclusion of Midnight's Children, on the grounds that it is still on literary probation, having been only recently published. Judging by that criterion, I am frankly amazed that the Old Testament whippersnapper makes it onto the same list as the relatively geriatric Hindu texts.
