Sir: As an exiled Scot and football lover, I was saddened to read in your obituary columns of the death of Willie Waddell (to all Glaswegians 'Wullie'). It reminded me of how we lauded him (sung to the tune of 'Killarney'):

Nature bestowed all her gifts with a smile

The left foot, the right foot, the noddle

If you can buy all these wonderful things

Then you can buy Wullie Waddell.

Sincerely,

HELEN TAYLOR
