Sir: I read in last Wednesday's Independent ('Too grand for Westminster', 29 July) of various 'grand projects' being put forward to enhance the environment of London in order to mark the millennium. Why not a restoration of the 19th-century water gardens in Vauxhall?
That would be a project which would satisfy tourists and London residents alike.
Yours faithfully,
GORDON SMITH
