Sir: In 1956 a disastrous train accident happened in India. Without arguing about operational responsibilities, the then Railways Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, accepted full responsibility and resigned immediately. Later on, after Nehru's death, he became prime minister. His outright act of statesmanship made a great impression on the youth of the day.
