Letter: Hackney can do better

Low expectations may have been the norm at Hackney Downs ("Anarchy in the town hall", 15 September) and, for all I know, at other schools in Hackney. But you should not imply that all Hackney's schools are in this category, or that they automatically underachieve. At Haggerston School, for example, high standards, high expectations and high achievements are at the heart of the school's philosophy and the result is a school of outstanding quality. My family and our daughter will be grateful for it all our lives.
