Sir: Your leading article 'Peace and love in Hampshire' (10 August) suggested that parts of Salisbury Plain be set aside as a venue for travellers holding periodic festivals in the open air and so avoid confrontation with the authorities.
Surely it would be much more effective if our sturdy vagabonds met on Hampstead Heath so that our legislators could see at first hand what the problem was and what could be done about it?
Yours sincerely,
