Sir. The "serious health hazards" arising from the National Lottery (Letters, 15 April) are nothing new but one must learn to live with them. Having regularly marked my choice over the years on the form provided, optimism has likewise changed to depression some time after the results are declared.
A similar pattern repeats itself at the next opportunity to visit the polling station when the party one votes for forms a government and subsequently brings about those "feelings of hopelessness" when it reneges on so many of its election promises.
Yours faithfully,
ROBERT VINCENT
