From Professor G. L. Huxley

Sir: The contrast between fox and hedgehog ("Blair has persuaded himself to be a reform hedgehog", 8 February) should not be attributed to Sir Isaiah Berlin: the expression is first attested, as Berlin himself acknowledged, in early Greece, among the poetical relics of Archilochos of Parcos.

Yours faithfully,

George Huxley
