CLAUDE BLAIR's letter, 'Well on the way to privatising the national heritage' (9 August) is a travesty of the truth.

There is no plan to transfer part of the Royal Armouries from the Tower of London 'to form part of a theme park in Leeds'. There is a plan to move some of the collection of the Royal Armouries presently inadequately housed in the Tower to a new national museum in Leeds where it can be properly displayed.
