Sir: Fran Abrams repeats the canard that 4.4 million new houses will be needed in the next 20 years ("Green Belt development may produce too many new houses", 22 January). The former Department of the Environment figure is a projection covering a 25-year period from 1991 to 2016. It does not start in 1998.
