Letter: In praise of self-esteem

THANK YOU for the hilarious spoof interview between Margaret Beckett and the preposterous comic creation "Will Self" ("Bland ambition", Review, 25 July). The idea of having a reporter who is so narcissistic that he thinks an interview is simply an opportunity to fire off his own pretentiously expressed views was brilliant.

But the best moment - where "Self" is incredulous that a minister of state could fail to be familiar with his own political stance - was saved, exquisitely, till last. Could it be that the hideous caricature "Will Self" is really the work of the satirist Chris Morris?
