Sir: P.J. Stewart asks whether any of us are able to remember what was in the Dome of Discovery (letter, 28 January). I seem to recall a series of displays showing how the landscape would supposedly look on the planets in the Solar System. One saw these depicted at the bottom of tubes set into a sloping display at about waist height. My abiding memory is of Mars: resting against a picture of a desolate scene was half a ham roll. How prophetic of man's impact on extraterrestrial bodies ...
