Sir: John Tusa should add a seventh point to the plan for the future of the BBC World Service that he proposed (Media, 9 December): 'Do not deprive listeners in Britain who at present enjoy the World Service overnight.'
In all the recent criticism of Radio 4's proposed 24-hour news service on long wave, this point seems to have been overlooked. At present, the LW channel transmits World Service programmes from just before 1am to just before 6am. The news coverage is excellent, far broader and more detailed than we get at home.
